It is comforting indeed to share our experiences both good and bad with RA & Osteo. I am grateful for the internet for allowing us to do so. I spend a good deal of time at home and it is a great way to lighten my day and get me out of my head-so to speak.

I was first diagnosed with RA & OSTEO when I was 32 and I am 65 and alive today! I too watched my Mother and Grandmothers cope with the disease and their ability to not let it live their lives contributed to how I live my own. Thanks to them and all of you for your wisdom and insights.

My GeatGran had visible crippling in her hands and feet and folks would ask her: "How do you feel?" And she would reply- I feel with my hands don't you? A testy lady to the end at 96! And even with those hands she continued to cook and bake to well into her 80's.

Continue on...love life....

I, too, just found your post. I, too, could have been the older woman you were talking to--54 years of RA, and, of course, more damage than newbies will ever have to put up with. You do know about RA Warrior web site, I'm sure? Lots of good stuff. I have been reluctant to frighten newly-diagnosed people, also, but at this point, it looks a lot worse than it feels--I have responded extremely well to Enbrel. I have a lot to say about a life of joy, in spite of, or maybe even because of RA, on PNN and my personal website. Just Google me in, and see how active I am at 78. Good luck!

Wonder Woman. I hope I have the grace and acceptance that you both have, RA guy. I think I am still coming to grips (after 8 years) that this disease is not going away. Pain is just going to be part of my life. All we can do is manage it and go on with life! I am definitely going to look into Aspercreme. lol. Thanks for your amazing blog!

I wonder, as far as joint deformity in the fingers...has anyone suggested silver ring splints to you?

http://www.silverringsplint.com/

I have a full set of them, to prevent further damage to my finger and thumb joints.
