You can use your mind to work for you or against you.

I have found the same to be true about a positive attitude. When I am optimistic, it makes a world of difference. I too find myself often forgetting about the pain because I have allowed myself to enter another world. But, when I return and feel the pain again, I have my best results when I remind my brain that my body is healing. It likes to hear that message over, “Oh boy, here we go again.”

I am currently struggling with adopting a positive attitude. This past year has not been kind; my marriage broke up due to infidelity, I lost my job, my father died, and I was finally just diagnosed with RA, after showing symptoms since February. Because I am in the early diagnosis of RA, I am still in much pain and confusion, and this is hampering my search for a job. It truly seems that it never rains, but it pours. I am working on altering my attitude, and I believe I am making progress, very slowly, and I keep trying to see the glass as half-full instead of half-empty. Knowing that there are others who are going through the same experience give me hope and incentive to plod on. I love the quote in the post above and am going to print it out and refer to it often.
Thank you so much for sharing so much of yourself with us. I’m going to go look up the posts you referred to now.
Sending healing thoughts and positive energies to you.

When you live with chronic pain, you learn to live your life with it. I have mornings where I feel like I have been run over by a truck, but it does not change everything that I have to do on a daily basis. I still have to work, study, take of my family, etc. The one thing my conditions do not control is my attitude and my strength to give through it all.
