Jose’ your write-up hit the heart this afternoon. I too am in Phoenix and although my RA went undiagnosed for several years, it will be four years this April since my diagnosis. Lot’s of great information and awesome people here! God Bless.

I see we have a few things in common besides RA. We are both live in Arizona. I am in Phoenix. I also was a band booster for the 8 years my sons were in marching band. Wonderful times with my sons for sure. You are definitely a superhero for doing it. We seem to have been living with RA for about the same amount of time it looks like. I love your mom’s comment about situations making you bitter or better. My mom would say the same thing. I also chose to allow my situation to make me better. Say there is an Arthritis support group here local if you would be interested. It’s called Arthritis Introspective. We have a FaceBook page. We try and meet once a month for an fun activity and we have a yearly gathering with our AI groups across the country. There we have education sessions and we also take some out for some fun activities too.

The legacy you are living and providing for your children is beyond measure. For someone who was so physically active with soccer, I am very impressed with such amazing adaptability. I echo Deb’s comment on appreciation for your mother’s inspirational remark of looking inward and seeing “better.” I feel exactly the same way about my own, fairly recent introduction into the realm of RA. Way to go Jose’/SKRDad!

Not only are you traveling this ra journey but you are showing your children the “better” way to travel it as well. I loved your Mom’s inspirational advice and will now carry that with me also.
