You are so right. I share the things you write with some of the people closest to me because you explain it or express it so well. YOU are a help for others to gain understanding. Sometimes I feel like if I tell them, they are like “oh, ok.” But when they read it from another source, now it has validity and they become more understanding or sympathetic.

@Mad: I don’t think he was discounting osteo, Rheumatoid Arthritis Guy has RA, so he speaks for himself. He did start the article with “For many of us with rheumatoid arthritis or other autoimmune diseases”

Great article but what about osteoarthritis? We may not show the changes to our bodies as visually as people with ra but a lot of what was said in this article could be applied to us as well. Just saying.

It’s like you’re psychic too. I was just thinking about this today. I’m torn between telling people what’s going on with me so they’ll understand why I can’t participate in everything or not telling them what’s going on with me because I don’t want to be all “hey, look at me”. I never know what to do. I hate the look on people’s faces when I tell them what’s going on with me. A lot of guys in my life tend to think ‘she’s just being a whiny little ‘B” until they can relate it to another dude and then they’re all sympathetic. ???????????
