Mattel To Make ‘Bald Friend Of Barbie’

Mattel, the maker of Barbie, will produce a bald fashion doll for children who have lost their hair because of illness or cancer, the company announced today.

“These dolls, which will be a friend of Barbie, will be distributed exclusively to children’s hospitals and other hospitals treating children with cancer throughout the U.S. and Canada, directly reaching girls who are most affected by hair loss,” said Mattel Company spokesman Alan Hilowitz in a statement.

    Ummmm….maybe a Ken doll for boys could be added :-) I bet they could use some psychological support also :-) Or maybe in the GI Joe version or whatever boys popular toy is today. Man I am surely dating myself here :-)

    I thank that is Awesome. You don’t don’t how much it will mean to those kids to see a doll that looks like them, with no hair.

    While undergoing chemo, I have witnessed the loss of all hair, including, but not limited to, eyebrows and eyelashes. Hard to be a fashion plate while sick as can be, this is so weird.
